How come this team isn't scoring more runs?

I know it is early in the season, but what is up with this team?

http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/baseball/stratomatic/atg2/team/team.html

my typical line up vs RHP has:

J. Robinson 2b
Boggs 3b
J. Clark RF
Mantle CF
Fox 1b
Greenberg lf
Gedman C
Marion SS

I didn't expect to compete, but I wanted to see how many runs I could score with a team of high OBP and slugging playing in the Polo grounds. I figured with the 1-6 hitters it would be difficult NOT to score runs.

The link doesn't work. You need to click on "Statistics" then right-cick your team and copy the link. :)

I don't think there is any logical explantation for this group of players putting out those kinds of stats after 39 games. That is one powerful group. I would like to see what happens by the end of the year. Can't continue like that!!

well what i see is that your team doesnt have any table setters. so as your power guys come to the plate there isnt anyone on for them to knock in.plus your overall team speed is slow. i dont mean base stealing but running speed. so if you run into a strictly pitchers park and face top tier pitching without the table setters and team speed you might struggle if the die rolls on the pitchers card. i would have used maybe boggs money and taken a jones for 3rd. and used extra cash to maybe get a better obp ss. your team is weak defensively so why not use that cash could have saved to upgrade your ss. good obp guy and run scoring is d bush. makes errors but with your squad you put together defense isnt key. maybe kept only 1 of your 1b like fox at first and had rickey in lf. plus in a hitters heaven you could have found a cheaper alternative at dh that supplied power and up graded your catcher. gedman is more a pitcher to nuetral catcher. just my 2 cents. hopefully others will ring in with their thoughts. mine being lack team obp

What does it take to be a table setter?

Jackie Robinson with OBP of 425 and Boggs is 455. What does it take to be a tablesetter if those are not high enough?

well figure out what they give him as table setter. combined they have scored 41 runs in 39 games. so 1/4 way thru. so at current pace they would get 166 runs scored. as good as you say they are playing valen see how many playoff teams dont have their 1st batter or 2nd not score 100 runs. do you think either one of these 2 will score 100 runs for the season?

It looks more like timing. The team is scoring 5+ runs per game on average. Foxx, Mantle and Clark have scored more than 30 runs apiece, but your top two hitters (with .300 ba) should be scoring more. Check your game-by-game to see how many times Boggs and Jackie are being stranded and why?

Sorry, but you have a big problem, you cannot hit LHs. When you do the breakout you can see the numbers, .234 BA, .354 SLG, .313 OBP, 14 HRs vs LHs.

The bad news is this performance is to be expected given your lineup, here are the numbers from the cards:

OBP vs RH 0.458
SLG vs RH 0.485
OPS vs RH 0.943
HR Rate vs RH 4.9
BPHR vs RH 37
OBP vs LH 0.428
SLG vs LH 0.409
OPS vs LH 0.837
HR Rate vs LH 3.0
BPHR vs LH 35

3% HR rate, .837 OPS and .409 SLG vs LH is way low, OPS needs to be above .930 for a team like this. Not surprising given Clark, Boggs and the Mick are slanted toward RHs big time.

You have other problems, like Clark in RF, Hank in LF and Jackie at 2B, but I would move out Clark for an Ennis, Valentine, Rettenmund type ASAP and hope they get hot vs LHs. Or try and make a trade to beef up your RH SLG and improve 2B defense. For a team like this actual team SLG needs to be above .520 to be sucessful IMHO, you are at .419 .....
