If you had to pick one player to build your team around who would it be?

I tend toward Musial.

Pete Alexander, hands down.

There are plenty of great hitters out there, at all positions, which means all of them are replaceable. There's only one Alexander, who virtually guarantees you 23-28 wins. No other pitcher comes close.
