I finally got the GREAT Ernie Banks....

Postby MICHAELTARBELL » Mon Oct 24, 2005 10:14 am

And after 105 games, he has been disappointing to say the least...

[code:1:04a05ae2f0]Banks, E. R SS 2e12 418 59 14 25 78 33 1 10 .266 .479 .320 [/code:1:04a05ae2f0]

In Baker no less! Yes, he is seeing only 32% left handers...but still...very disappointing.... :(

I know the feeling. After 105 games, Ruth is hitting:

G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K BA SLG OBP
103 375 85 101 22 1 37 86 86 94 .269 .629 .400

I admit its not bad, but it definitely is not Ruth-esque.

Ernie is only worth the money if he is protecting alot of LH hitters who kill righties.
and then he is worth a fortune.
as long as there are lefty starters in the league.

I think some high $$ players get the "mystery card" sometimes. I've had Ruth with 38 HRs at Polo, Mantle hit .250 vs RHs, Gehrig hit .287 in Huntington and other such nonsense.

Ernie has been pretty consistent for me, maybe not a high average, but plenty of HRs and always lots of RBIs. Where are you hitting him?

I am not sure this is necessarily true. Yes, he is a 3L, but he also has 43 ob chances vs righties ( I consider 40 outstanding), and a rating of 8 bphrs and 7 hrs vs righties! Not too shabby. I have also seen him put up Monsterous numbers in hiiters parks, and I don't think I have ever been in a league where I see more than 37% lefties. I think sometimes you just have a bad season with a guy (or sub-par might be a better way of putting it), and I am having one with Ernie.

sschu, bat him 4th vs both righties and lefties as protection behind Mantle vs righties, and because his card is AWESOME vs lefties.... :)

Had Banks 5 times 1 very bad season but was in Astrodome 3 decent seasons in lesser pitching parks but MVP of league my only Title at 67 Fenway Flood Schpendienst and Shoeless Joe set table and he drove them in 187 times with 57 HR

I love Ernie, hitters park or not, lineup protection or not -- he always rocks.

Just bad rolls, I think. I had Ruth hit .270 with 40 HRs and 110 ribbies in Baker Bowl once. Not bad, but certainly not Ruthian. Sometimes you just get the short end of the stick, great card or not...
