I have been curious for a while about guys like Brett and Foxx, Yaz, Duke and others and how their numbers translate in say Griffith. I have an alterier motive here because I have a team in Griffith starting Monday. I know some of the these guys don't have the stellar defense and maybe that is the reason you don't see them as much in these parks but does the offense and having that bat in the lineup make up for the defense? Would like your thoughts?

In my humble experience, when I tried to mix "bombers" and Griffith, I bombed (pardon the pun). I have found after about a dozen Griffith teams, that arm strength and defense rating in the OF, and a 1 at SS and 2B are critical to winning. Speed (not necessarily stolen base ability, but running speed) is important to take advantage and stretch that extra base as a runner. When I have had those things, I win. When I have not had them, I lose. It has been that simple.

Nothing wrong with spending money on hitters in a big park. Just make sure that they have the right attributes for that park... speed, defense, high average, good obp. If you want power (and you should probably have at least one good slugger) make sure that they have a lot of non-bp HRs on their card. Mays=good; Joe Gordon=bad.

Exactly. The key is guys with lots of natural home runs. Or...guys like Dawson or Valentine, that have lots of natural HRs to one side and very few ball park ones to the other, so you don't lose too much of their value to that side.
