Despite the offensive or bullpen sacrifices many teams make to take him, his overall winning percentage for all-time ATGII is approaching .640. No one else wins more than 60%. That's a stunning gap with all the talent out there.
Hitter - if you ignore position scarcity, I would take Lou Gehrig every time. A lock for 100 XB hits and can approach 150 in hitters' parks. That's more XB hits than most players get total hits. Plus he's bulletproof, not too unbalanced, and not a total slug on the bases or in the field.
If you take position scarcity, then I take Willie Mays. He won't get the average or OBP of the Mick, but he has unbelievable power and is a defensive showstopper.
