Suggestions?

This team is performing worse than I expected. My lineup is:

Rice/Rice
Miller/Miller
McCormick/McCormick
Carter/Ripken
Ripken/Carter
Robinson/Robinson
Evers/Evers
Geronimo/Geronimo

Any thoughts? My division has Candlestick, Griffith, Polo 11 and I am in Griffith. :?

Without a link, it is hard to say, but here are your lineup numbers:

OBP vs RH 0.365
SLG vs RH 0.426
OPS vs RH 0.791
HR Rate vs RH 1.7
BPHR vs RH 20
OBP vs LH 0.352
SLG vs LH 0.420
OPS vs LH 0.771
HR Rate vs LH 2.2
BPHR vs LH 20

Couple that with a leaky middle infield and a few lugs on the basepaths and you have big problems, even with 4 big SPs, which I assume you have.

Card OPS should be over 800 and OBP should target 400 each side, depending on opposition. My guess is actual OBP is in the 305 range and RPG is less than 3.5.

Random thoughts:

Rice's OBP isn't high enough IMO to have him bat leadoff
Your RF/LF arms are inadequate for true small ball
McCormick & B. Robinson are slugs on the basepaths & may be clogging you up
Ripken is not the best fit for your park

Who are your pitchers?

Sorry, here is a link:

I have Pfiester, Hubbel, Ames and Bagby Sr. as my starters.

In retrospect, Luderus & Steinfeldt would have fit your park much better.

Bob Gibson, Wilson & Boyd would also do well for you on the lower priced SP category.

Opps, I thought it was Jackie Robinson at 3B, here are your revised numbers:

OBP vs RH 0.343
SLG vs RH 0.413
OPS vs RH 0.756
HR Rate vs RH 1.7
BPHR vs RH 23
OBP vs LH 0.339
SLG vs LH 0.416
OPS vs LH 0.755
HR Rate vs LH 2.3
BPHR vs LH 21

Sorry, now you might be in a bit of deep trouble. Miller, Rice, Ripken, Evers and McCormick are all at or above expected performance, you have way too much $$ in your pen and Bags is not a great value for your park.

Suggest you find some OBP via trade or on the wire or things might get worse. Your pen could be Pina/Mart or Richert as closers, Konstanty and a cheapy as middle relief. Hughes and one of the LHs are wasted cash IMHO.

Sschu

How do you get these numbers? Are you adding up all the card values and then dividing it by 872 (8 *108) to get the OBP and SLG figures for each line up?

I would perform some radical surgery to upgrade the batting order

[[b:cf019e13c5]list]
Drop:[/b:cf019e13c5]

Starting Cash 0.49
Ames 8.84 7.072
Bagby 3.71 2.968
Konstancy 3.68 2.944
Robinson 2.51 2.008

15.482

Pick up
Lundgren 6.42
Doc Crandal 3.61
Sisk 0.68
Steinfeldt 4.75
15.46

Final Cash 0.022

I add up the numbers from the spreadsheet and divide by the number of players. I work in percents, some use the count. This gives an indication of where you are, especially from a balance standpoint. Sometimes if you have someone in the lineup that is biased (like Mantle or Brett) or have an intentional slug (like Crosetti) the numbers can be somewhat misleading. Obviously there are other factors such as lineup, speed, defense, matchups, etc.

Nontheless the numbers indicate a clear probelm with OBP here, the actuals bear this out.

I like the Steiny idea, other SPs to consider might be Key, Gibby, Lonborg, Carlton, the Can, and Roberts, you would have $10M to spend with GKs numbers. I suggest you make the move B4 its too late.

That is a LOT of wasted cash in the bullpen. Martinez with 6 innings? Konstanty with 13? And PINA leading your bullpen in innings pitched? You need to really rework your pen/settings, and try to salvage a lineup. Your obp is very low, even for your park.
