I've got a pitching and defense team with four $10.00 Mill plus starters and all top notch fielders with all outfielders having -5 arms.

I would go for 2 good arms. One shutdown reliever is not utilized properly by HAL most of the time. Best assuming 5.31 +.5 +.5 = 6.31

would be :

Guisiti 2.25 or Stayley
Dayley 1.31
Martinez 2.46 or Richert 2.61 or Baumgarter

But assumming you can't do that I would go with Tincup/Lefferts

If it were me and I was sitting on 4 10M+ starters, I wouldnt bother with much of a bullpen. If you play your cards right, they wont enter the game to begin with. Im assuming you are playing in a nice pitchers park, which makes your advantage even better. That being said, if you still are intent on spending money on a bullpen, I concur with Charlie. I seem to have better success with 2 closer types rather than one. But, like I said, my goal would be to get your money out of those big $$ starters and minimize bullpen utilization to begin with. You could probably take those $$ and upgrade some bats (if necessary).

Just my $.02

Get a couple of less expensive guys if you can (Fosnow/Taylor), otherwise get Tincup/Lefferts. I believe it is a mistake not to have a good pen with 4 big SPs. HAL pulls/pinch hits for SPs too fast sometimes, then you are sitting out there in the late innings with Eddie Watt in Fenway and your odds go down significantly.

Agreed ... Unfortunately, HAL will even pull Pete for a pinch hitter in the 7th inning of a tied game.

I'll go the multi-reliever route, thanks for the input guys.

I would agree as well, but I would even go with 4 solid RP with only one more expensive. A "perfect" pen for me, with those starters, would be Richert/baumgartner/Martinez, Taylor, Hall (HUGE bargain) and a Worrell/mcEnaney or even Drabowski.

I rarely, if ever, have anyone more expensive than Richert/Staley/Martinez in the pen.

If you have 4 Aces you only need 1 RP so make him as dominant as possible or spend more $$ on offense. The other 5 pitchers should .50 SP's & they'll never pitch an inning anyways.
