Looking at your other division mates, here is my take on it. Your team make a road trip lately? You dont have enough LH power to be supereffective in your two division-mates Yankee '56 parks. You are giving up almost 40 points of BA more to LH then RH hitters, and I would guess you are seeing an awful lot of lefties with those teams.

I do think you have put together a pretty good lineup, but when looking at your divisionmates, I think this team may struggle on the road. Out of curiosity, is this what you are seeing?

Your run differential is pretty good, so perhaps you just lost a few close games. You are 26-22, so I'm not really sure what you are expecting out of this team; that doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

I think you should feel very fortunate. You have 2 very marginal SPs having career years.

True, Walberg has been amazing. And I wouldn't really expect Vuckovich to go undefeated. Your bullpen isn't set up well; Wade is leading in innings pitched. None of your hitters are doing poorly; you are getting excellent production from your cheap catchers. I'd count your blessings. :)

I look at three things about my teams to see if I did a good job putting them together.

1. Win % = RS **1.83 / (RS ** 1.83 + RA ** 1.83)

This is the Bill James luck factor, based upon this you should have 28 wins.

2. RS = OBP * SLG * ABs. I looked at dozens of teams, normally this number is aboput 5% higher than actuals. Right now you are at 263 RS, the numbers say you should have 248 RS, so you have good effeciency, that might not keep up.

3. Over/under performance

Your pitching staff is WAY over performing, that probably will not hold.

Of your hitters, Ripper is off slightly, Teddy's BA is a bit low, but his OBP is very high. It seems you are over performing at just about every position.

Bottom line, I hope you continue to win, and you might, but would not be surprised if the ERA goes up and the win % is closer to 500 by season end.

I suggest printing your stats page out weekly and looking at it for changes over time, trends will emerge.

Best of luck, sschu

Why isn't this team winning more? Two big reasons:

1) the level of competition has gone WAY up in ATGII, and it is not as common as it used to be to be able to kick butt against the whole league; and

2) HAL hates you. He hates me. He hates everyone but Nevdully and Bobby. (sometimes even them). He hates most anything that breathes, has flesh and blood, and is probably a smarter manager than he is.

IMHO

What is your league made up of friends from Long Island and surrounding environs? Don't recognize any of the names from other leagues. There is even a team from Massapequa, where I grew up. Had a gf in Northport in the 80's. Nice town.

Your team simply isn't that good. I think that the proper question is why have they done as well as they have. The starting pitching is, at best, mediocore and you are getting unbelievable stats from two of them. Any when I say mediocore, I am being VERY charitable. Your hitting is OK, Eddie Collins, Mays and Cuyler are a very solid backbone and excellent values. Williams may be a bit pricey for what he offers, especially with the 80 M cap. But overall you probably should end up with 81 +/- 10 victories. Not a bad team but not a great one either.
