Proving PBTR's indestructible catcher theory - UPDATE

Proving PBTR's indestructible catcher theory - UPDATE

Postby egvrich » Tue Nov 29, 2005 8:52 am

I've got Sanguillen and Herschberg as my catchers on a team. Manny just went down with a 15 gamer, leaving ol' Willard as my only catcher. If he doesn't go down with an injury during this stretch, I will accept that as proof positive that PBTR is correct that the 2nd catcher becomes indestructible if the 1st catcher gets hurt.

I'll post again in 5 days!

Is being hurt for remainder of game an injury or not??

I haven't seen it happen, but my understanding is they CAN be hurt for the remainder of the game. My last 30 or so teams have gone with 2 catchers, usually one with a big injury, and I have never seen them injured concurrently.

I smell a theme league. Require all teams to carry 2 catchers, make theme the 24 most injury prone, max out the hitting/minimize the pitching to max out the at bats and require the second catcher to be used at dh when both are healthy. That should give the theory a real test!!!!!

That would not only test it, but prove or disprove it beyond any reasonable doubt. Now, who's gonna be first to step up and waste a credit on it?????

Just so you guys know, it can and did happen to me but only for the balance of that game. I believe HAL put Roenicke in as catcher when my 2nd catcher got injured. Don't recall who my catchers were but I know it happened.

Well for the record it's not my theory, it was espoused long before I came along...

IT IS NOT A THEORY. IT IS A FACT -- of the stone cold variety.

My default catching [b:2c89b68755]duo [/b:2c89b68755]ALWAYS involves either Rice or Hershberger. As long as you don't DH one of them, one of them will always be available to catch. I believe I've had one or the other on 100% of my last 80 teams. I never care anymore about catcher injuries, and believe me, they used to TORTURE me.

And you wouldn't believe how many trade offers I get for Willard. Nev routinely tries to wheedle him from me. I think the last draft with PBTR he also inquired about his availability.

He never goes anywhere once he's on the roster.

I hate to be contrare but, Barbaro Garbey has caught several games for me. I only ever carry 2 catchers but... there have been occasions when both have been down together. The most both have been out was 4 games I believe. Thinking back though the 4 game replacement was Dave Parker, so that had to ne ATGI.
