Mickey Mantle Problems

I noticed when looking at the L/R splits that he is a dog when hitting left handed. He has no extra base hits and only 4 RBI's. Righthanded he has 14 HR and 29 RBI.
I am wondering if he is worth all the money.

At first, I was never able to get Mantle. Then I was reluctant to spend 15 million on him. Then I finally decided to try him. I have used him 3 times.
1) Season finished .376 62 bombs 164 RBI
2) Thru 147 games .348 57 Bombs 143 RBI
3) Thru 126 games .370 62 Bombs 151 RBI
I have never gotten consistant production like that out of any other big ticket player. Ruth and Gehrig depend too much on ballpark HR. The key is to protect vs. lefties with guys like Valentine, Carter, Clemente ECT. plus it's not like Mantle will hurt you because he hits very well average wise vs. lefties and still draws tons of walks. I usually hit him #3 or #4 vs. righties and #2 against lefties.

The Mick has underperformed for me at Polo several times, especially against RHs, which is unexpected. Post your team and let's have a look.

A dog when hitting left handed?!? Well, yeah, compared to Mickey hitting righthanded. Of course, almost ANYONE is a dog compared to him hitting right handed. Even against lefties, his obp and BA are excellent, along with 8 bphrs. And with his running 1-17, he'll score a lot of runs when he gets on.
Whether he's worth 15M, well, as usual, it depends. I like using him in a BIG park, not a small one; all of those solid HRs against righties will go out anywhere. Here are some Forbes Field numbers... (In a 60M league!)

141 runs and 167 RBI in Forbes, and 97 wins. He was worth it to me (that season, anyway!)

Uh, you may want to re-read that stats sheet ... :)
Here is some Mick stats at Polo:
http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/baseball/stratomatic/atg2/team/team_other.html?user_id=52081&stats=splits
50 HRs, but a .273 BA vs RHs.
http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/baseball/stratomatic/atg2/team/team_other.html?user_id=67846&stats=splits
40 HRs, but a .289 vs RHs.
I would never complain about Mick, but for some reason he has disappointed a few times at Polo. Here he is at Fenway and Yankee 56, this makes up for it..... :D

Yeah, the mick is really a dog. Actually vs leftys he will usually hit for a higher average. Here is the first time I used him, needless to say it was not the last.

Forbes is a BIG park, Riggo! :P
It's funny... in ATG I, I played mostly in bandboxes. In ATG II, I changed up, and have played mostly in pitchers parks. If you average them out, I'm well-rounded. :)
Here's a ATG II hitters park team! From Barnstormers II.

See? 1/50 of the time, I play in a hitters park.

Just matchups. Sounds like he might have been rolling on the pitcher's card a bit. Memorial should be fine for him; he'll start killing the ball.
My one time with him in Forbes (pitcher's park):
AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB BA SLG OBP
549 117 196 28 5 34 103 110 98 19 .357 .612 .460
And I have definitely seen MUCH better numbers.
