100m League: The Case for Jack Clark

I have a new team in Yankee 56, a stadium I am trying to learn. The offense strategy rule is to have 4-5 LH even power hitters with RH OBP hitting to support. I had a poor draft, but manged to get Snider, Williams, Cash and Haller all w/LH, even Power. Which leaves me with RH needs. I chose Clark over Ennis.

My experience with Clark is that he leads every league he's in- in on base against RHP and is over 400 against lefties. He'll hit over 50 bangers with tons of RBIs. Negatives: Price, which is negated in a 100 mil league. His defense in RF [3e3 (0)] is average. He doesn't hit for average, (if that matters). And he gets hurt from time to time.

Here are his numbers in Fenway 46:

Regardless of the park, these numbers seem to hold up. If you need RH OBP with plenty of power both ways, Clark is your man. I think he's a great # 2 hitter if you have a loaded lineup.

Think you've summed up Clark very well. He is an excellent #2 hitter. Avg. will stink, but who cares? Lots of power and OBP. You're right, he's excellent in a $100m league, especially.

That's a better than average season for Jack. I like him some, but only if I can get values at other positions. If you get one of the 35 HR, .240 average, .400 OBP seasons out of him, as I did in Briggs, he completely drains your team with that salary. I wouldn't want Jack as my highest priced player, but in a $100M league he can be a good complimentary player.

He hit 6 HRs for me last night. I'm OK with him...

Here's a current Clark season. He just got injured for 15 in game 149. But he should only miss game one of the playoffs. Apart from the recent injury I think we can all agree that he had a reasonable season.

Here's an example of a bad Clark year.
Also current.

Not bad at all- either year. My first 9 games- at home- I'm 3-6 :? Clark is not the problem though...
