Clutch Hitting Experiment

I haven't been playing much on-line Strat lately (busy schedule and a little bored with ATG II), so perhaps someone has tried this type of team. There have been a couple of threads re: the merits (or lack thereof) of clutch hitting.

My concept is that an excellent OBP speed team with nearly all clutch hitters would feed off each other due to more runners in scoring position. The only major exception I made was Money at 1st base (attempted to draft Chance and then Jackie Robinson in waivers but lost both). So far so good. Unfortunately, there no method to determine how much clutch factors into the team’s success.

And I apologize in advance to the Strat-gods now that I have officially jinxed my team.

Tom,

I have put together several (7 as I recall), teams called the clutch cargos.

Common thread was that all position players had positive clutch, good speed and preferably were "1's" on defense. Of 6 completed seasons, 5 teams made the playoffs and all had winning records.

I have come to the conclusion that clutch ratings and overall team speed are potentially underrated factors of success.

Thanks for the feedback, EVGRICH. Since we're in the same league, you'll be able to compare my version to your teams.

I didn't realize that Tom, in that case please disregard my previous comments ..........

Seriously, I'll take a closer look at your team, but bottom line is ... your concept should provide you a solid performance. Especially if you have a solid defensive lineup.

See you on the diamond!
