Vacation Week Position Draft Full and Running

Are there 11 others who will be manning the office (or otherwise available) on the slowest week of the year and interested in a position draft?

Draft order will be based on state Pick 3's (high getting first pick) the night we fill.

I’ll ask Penn if we can use his site.

The Basic Rules:

1. Each round the only players who can be selected are from one position. eg if round 1 is SP ANY player w/ SP rating on his card can be selected.

2. We will have 12 position rounds so every one will get a first round selection at a position. The positions will be... C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, LF, CF, RF, SP, RP, WC, WC. When you have first pick, you determine which position is applicable. 12th round will be WC plus unique stadium.

3. League cap will be 100M w/ DH.

4. Remainder of roster will be auto-draft and waivers.

The last time I did this someone dropped out after the lottery claiming the draft order was unfair to him. His replacement won the league, which I think is hilarious, and a fantastic endorsement of this concept.

Draft Order will be determined according to how PennGray's draft site is programmed for Position Drafts. Everyone is guaranteed pick 1 for one round.

Welcome Buckaroo. Frank, whoever holds first pick determines that round. So if you win first pick in the first round, you can choose anything you'd like, as everything would still be available.

I would be most likely up for this, depending on when you were planning on having the draft. Obviously with the holiday season, its a little crazy. What did you have in mind?

Also, I understand the first picker in the first round chooses the position that gets drafted that round, but does that go for all subsequent rounds? (i.e. 1st pick in the 2nd round chooses position for that round?)

Welcome Dr and Frank. Thanks for joining.

Major, each round is determined by the person with the first pick, so everyone is guaranteed someone they want (or at least the stadium). As for clock management, I assume people who sign up are generally available next week but not always available, so we probably won't have a clock. But if we can use Penn's site, proxies are very easy to load for this type of draft once people indicate how their round will go.

Ratio... you should check w/ Penn, because I ran one a while back and we discovered some changes that needed to be made in regards to the draft order to make it more fair. So, the order you listed MAY not be correct anymore. Not sure if Penn made the changes we came up with or not.

Couple quick suggestions... those that get stuck w/ the final two rounds are usually unhappy that they have to pick DH a/o Stadium.... what we found is that by making them a Wild Card choice if they choose (gives the #1 slots a chance to make it a DH/Stadium/ OR WC round), people tend to be a little happier... gives them a chance to snag an extra pitcher if they so choose.

Anyway, if the commitment is there to do this and get it done during the week next week, count me in with WV as my state.
