kudos to Chief for his entertaining thread about a strato-matic christmas. I had a wonderful Christmas this year. My wife gave me 3 books - "The Luckiest Man" about Lou Gehrig, "Eight Men Out", and "The Glory of Their Times, the Story of the Early Days of Baseball Told by the Men who Played it". I have already finished reading the book on Gehrig, and am halfway through "Glory" It is an edited transcript of oral interviews held with 26 old time ballplayers, including SMokey Joe Wood, Hank Greenberg, Stan Coveleski, Fred Snodgrass and others. Facinating. What a wife, that knew that all I wanted for Christmas was baseball, baseball and more baseball..... :D

The Glory of Their Times is a great book, Old geezer. Did you know it is also out on CD with the actual taped interviews? It's been awhile since I listened so I don't recall if all interviews in the book are included in the CD set. It was so much fun to listen to those guys!

My wife got me a membership to Cooperstown!
The HOF yes, but not an actual plaque or anything
A HOF hat and sweatshirt, and a "who's on 1st" t-shirt 8)
A Yankee stadium t-shirt and the pic is from 1927.
We get the usual discounts, and free admission this summer when we head to upstate NY.
For our anny in May, she gets a Damon jersey, she thought he was the best looking Bosox player, so now she's with the good guys
Just made me think how lucky I am.....how many guys could get away with giving an MLB jersey for a 3rd anniversary? :D

bkeat - that's cool. I can relate a bit.
However, my wife is not a baseball fan... at all. Doesn't get it, doesn't like it. Her sport is football - loves football. I converted her from no sports to avid football fan. Loves Tom Brady and Adam Vinatieri. I could probably get away with getting her a jersey for our fourth anniversary this year.....
but baseball? never. I could surprise her with anything baseball and I would get that look... you know that look... that civil thank you, glaring-eye thing.....
In picking wins and losses in football this season – with me, two college buddies and a newspaper sports editor – my wife is 169-71, a 12-game lead; she has led from the get-go.
I joked with friends last week that I should have her make my Strat teams, I may do better. =)
