A Good Strat Story...

I was a very avid strat board game player from the age of 10 through the age of 20. That was over 20 years ago. I'd heard about TSN strat about a year ago, but I didn't take the dive until two months ago.
I opened an account with two teams - 1 ATG2 and 1 2005 (I have since stopped using that account since I didn't like the name!). The first team I ever drafted in TSN was an ATG2 team named the Bethany Beach Boyz. Since then I have been reading these message boards, learning a great deal, and I have started about 8 teams under this new account name.
My BBBoyz team had some major rookie errors in it - i.e. too many righty power hitters in Dunn '20! To make matters worse, I was faced with Strat veteran Bobby in my division.
Well, with just one night left in the season, I just clinched a playoff birth edging out Bobby with a torrid streak - winning 24 of my final 32 games. Now, I enter the playoffs with famed vets MtheB, Frank Bailey and Petrosioan. Based on my reading of these boards, I'm sunk. These guys are good.
Can the rookie complete a storybook season in his inaugural campaign? More to come.....

What a great story!! One thing I've learned is that on any given night in the playoffs, anyone can beat anyone. I've been beating by all 3 so many times in the regular season, and in playoffs, and I have even beaten them! So, it can be done, but even if they beat you, you have done a great job so early in your ATGII career! Congrats.

PJ, based on your offensive exploits with the Swedish National Team, would you say the Bruins are under utilizing you in the offensive end?

Come Monday, just keep repeating "HAL is my friend!" We all know how this addiction starts. Great job and good luck.

I think Hal likes rookies 2 of 1st 5 teams division winners and my only ring 7 of 1st 10 teams over 500 Now over 700 games under After tonite 22 straight losing seasons Had 13 straight failed to win at least 70 but 5 of last 6 have and 3 of 4 of my last teams in 1st place Have learned a lot losing Makes the winning so much sweeter Have really been stupid at times but have had a lot of fun Love this game Continue to experiment I just want Cicotte to win 29 so I can bench him  :? :D  8)

Sorry to both you all with my personal story, but the Cinderella story continues......
The BBBoyz are heading to the finals! We knocked off MtheB and Petrosian knocked off Bailey. So, the 3rd and 4th seeds meet in the finals starting tongiht.
This is the first ATG2 team (and the first online Strat team) I ever drafted. I am now SO HOOKED that my wife thinks I'm having an on-line affair with a man named HAL.
Do any of you vets recall winning your first ever league? I highly doubt I can handle the great Petrosian team, but we'll give it our best shot.

Yazmanian Devil won his first league (beating me in the finals... :x )
I lost the finals in my first league, and won my second. It's been downhill ever since. Don't peak too early my friends, it can cost you!
Durantjerry, I should definitely see more ice time. However, I've been noticed more frequently after shutting down Alfredsson and Ovechkin the past week. Even Gretzky was rumored to be hunting down the tape of my undressing of Ovechkin!

PJ, it may be blasphemy, but I don't know anything about hockey. Never watched a game in my life. I couldn't tell you the difference from the Blue Line to the Red line (is there one?), and Icing is something that goes on a cake, as far as I know. :)

My first three strat teams were 200x. I was playoff-bound in two of them.
My second ATGII team lost the finals. I have not had a playoff team since.
However, my second Forbes team is 68-46 and cruising.... so, I am knocking on wood and keeping my fingers crossed, tossing salt over my right shoulder (oh crap, is it left?), not walking under any ladders and letting the team team be... I haven't made an adjustment since the team had about 35-40 wins. (except the bullpen, for anyone who has seen my rants on Wilks....)
Good luck Beach bum!!!!!!
