With two hitting parks and two pitching parks in my division (I am playing in Busch 87), would you prefer Boggs, or a platoon at 3b of Walling & McMullin (my current set up)? Would have to downgrade my starting pitching to afford Boggs. Currently, my staff consists of:
Brown
Camnitz
Hubbell
Hunter
With a cheap pen of:
Bennett
C. Young (.50 guy)
G. Harris
S. Miller
S. Crawford
Acker
This is an $80m cap league.

I would go with the platoon. Consider Joe Dugan as a substitute for McMullin. For more money (but still less that Boggs), consider upgrading to Prothro against lefties. Walling/Doc had a decent year for me on this team...

Go with the platoon. Boggs has never earned his salary for me.

I know Boggs doesn't get much love around these parts, but on smallball teams I have used him several times, he always hits .300-.350 with an OBP between .400-.450. Plus, he gives you a decent glove and he's bulletproof.
Now, with that said, Prothro will ALWAYS hit .350-.400 against LHP's with a ton of extra base hits too.
It's the injuries and the glove and the guy to give you that kind of production against RHP's (which you face 2/3 of the time) that slows down the platoon a little.
