What else determines the most games a player can be out for, besides a player having a 1 injury factor?

Plate appearances (AB + BB):

599 or less = up to 15 games
600 - 679 = up to 3 games
680 or more = rest of game max

I think the 0-6 injury rating only determines the likelyhood that a player will get injured. For instance, someone with a 1 is less likely to get injured than one with a 6. A 0 means they wil not get injured at all. As Rich pointed out, the # of games they can be injured each time an injury roll occurs is determined by PA.

I've seen some injury prone players play close to a full season minus a couple of games. The reverse is also true.

I just had Honus Wagner play in all 162 games a short while back. It can happen, but it's rare ....

I love Honus. One of my favs. Even with the errors he's worth it IMO. He missed about 15 games for me just recently which is about his avg for me.

I have Hershberger in a theme league (sschu's alpha). He has almost 500 PAs. He just went down for 15 though. Team him up with Dickey if you can afford it. Both are injury prone but while one is out the other is immune.

CPL5454, You are saying that if you have two catchers and one goes down, the other catcher will not go down until the other comes back from injury..

...that's correct jma500... :) ...unless you're in a DH league and use your 2nd catcher as a DH,then both could get injured in the same game... :)

That's why most only carry two catchers. Neither can be injured at the same time in non-DH leagues.

In DH leagues beware of using one of your catchers as the DH. If you do HAL will NEVER take your DHing catcher at put him behind the plate. MLB rules state that you then lose the DH entirely for that game and pitchers would then bat. The game engine isn't sofisticated enough to switch back and forth between DH & pitchers batting so HAL will take a non-catcher from the bench and place him behind the plate.

By the way, the 0-6 injury rating reflects where on the card the injury is located.

A 1, for example, is located on the 2 or 12 of the hitter's card. On a player's card, there are 108 dice roll combinations. So, a 2 only comes up once in 108 rolls, on average.

Thus a 2 rating is in the 3 or 11, a 3 is in the 4 or 10, and so on.

Also, the number of games injured is a 20-sided die roll, though I think the game engine's breakdown is different from the board game.
