I have seen him do well for other teams and read a number of people touting him. But he is killing me. He is hitting below the Mendoza line. I cannot carry that all season.

This is the FA list:

Very competitive league so 35-37 still has me within 3 games of wildcard.

Suggestions on improvement of team. I have already shopped him to the league and no takers so trade value in this league is zero. Changes if made will have to be via the FA wire.

No offense, Valen, but that's an odd collection of characters in one lineup, especially in Royals. With Barfield, Freehan, Aparicio, Avila, and Geronimo in the lineup vs righties, you will always struggle to score vs RH pitching.

Anyways - from the FA list, the only one who fits the leadoff bill is McCoskey. What I would actually consider is dumping Freehan and Selkirk - get a cheap C who smokes LHP (Steinbach, Lake, et. al) and platoon Roseboro/cheapo, then really upgrade to a strong LH bat - I don't think McCoskey or any other LH hitter solves the problems. It's drastic, yes, but if things start sliding I would think about that.

Just give George a bag of cheeze-doodles and a six of Schlitz and tell him to shut up and start hitting. Works for me...
