I'm curious as to everyone's take on the Brewers this season. I've updated my blog with my outlook/unreasonable panic. All this national attention has me nervous - they still have some major issues, IMO.

The Brew Crew played well last year for the Brew Crew. The new owner seems serious about trying to put together a winner . It would be great to see an I-94 series - White Sox- Brewers.

Brewers-White Sox in the Series would be awesome.
Trey I do worry about the level of hype. I overhype the Brewers every year(and get laughed at every year-deservedly) This year they are not laughing and I worry that if they don't get off to a good start with such a young team that hype can quickly become pressure and become a snowball.
There are a lot of ifs though like you said on your blog. The potential is there. I am optimistic that enough of the potential will be fulfilled and Melvin will make the right moves when needed. More importantly, though, I think the baseball Gods are ready to add one more insult onto the shoulders of Cub fans. Nearly 100 year drought, Red Sox title, White Sox title and next has to be a Brewer title.

I do have faith in Melvin, and I'm convinced Mike Maddux is a miracle worker. But an all-rookie right side of the infield really worries me. Both Weeks and Fielder are very subpar defenders at this point. And, as I blogged, if Weeks gets the Corey Patterson disease, things could go horrifically wrong.
All this doom and gloom aside, I see about 80-85 wins assuming the team's health is reasonable.

I agree on Maddux. A big part of my optimism is him. While the young hitters are causing the hype, the pitching is what will carry them. Bush will do well with his guidance. I expect something from either Gross or Hart as a surprise bonus in the outfield. I think Attanasio, Melvin and Yost have done a fantastic job but now see that the time is here for Brewers fans to step up and show up at the ballpark. With good attendance and hopefully a good start we can put the team in a position to be a buyer July 31 and to seriously attempt to keep Carlos Lee long term rather than trade him at the deadline.
Also, while I am optimistic, like you say it would not take much to turn the season into a nightmare either.
