80m dh lg, huntington 03. I've loaded up on hitting at the expense of pitching.
can this team win or am i destined for complete failure. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

First and foremost ... Why do you have so much cash lying around?

O.K., now on to the team.

You pretty much have all the right starters though Vuck is not really needed since you're going with a 5 man rotation anyways. Drucke can be upgraded also, there are better options than him. I like Morehead on my bomber teams.

I like your relief pitching also except for Shoffner. Get Perranoski or Lefferts for that final spot and you'll be all good.

Peckinpaugh is overkill as a backup, is Crosetti available?

You also need a RH platoon mate for 1st Base. Ray Knight, Gary Roenicke or Deron Johnson would fit this team nicely.

An upgrade behind the plate would also be nice. Bochy will hit his share of HR's but that's about all he'll do (including catching the ball).

My biggest concern for your team is injuries (Wagner, Belardi, Pafko, McCovey), you have a ton of high injury risks and not a lot of quality backups in case.

I've won 3 rings with this exact type of team. Sometimes it's just a matter of luck, they tend to be hit or miss.

thanks for taking McCovey. Your team still stinks

I made a quick move for mccovey and dropped gehrig, which gave me extra $$$. I picked up roenicke for the 1b platoon. Should I spend the majority of the extra $ on pitching or hitting?

I wouldn't platoon McCovey. He'll be fine vs. LHers -- low ave. but still enough HR's. Playing every day he should wind up with 60+. He's a great cleanup hitter vs. RHers; drop him down vs. lefties. I've had him several times at Polo etc. and trust me, he [i:19673f0ee7]rocks[/i:19673f0ee7] on an everyday basis. Only drawback is a possible 15 game injury hit.

Personally I think Stargell is a poor value (OK Stargell fans, let me have it.) Check his price against, say, McCovey -- is he worth that much more? I'd cheapen up in LF (lots of good candidates I'm sure), drop Roenicke, and try to improve my starters. And I'd want a good lefty reliever.

Lots of great players on your team.

nels52, thanks for the advice. I dropped stargell and p/u r york. I think i'll dh mccovey. In lf i'm going to platoon roenicke/oglivie, which gives me 2.57 to spend elsewhere. I appreciate any suggestions.
