yeah, MM can't stand him :)
seriously though, do a search, you'll find plenty of opinion on him - mostly

He's really inconsistent for me. Personally, I've got a grudge against him because he beats me when MM has him going against me, and he beats me when I need a big win from him (for my team, like the other night in game 5! He couldn't win in Griffith vs. Dave Dravecky! :x :o )

Hughson is great anywhere 95% of the time...can throw a stinker in once in awhile tho!
I think he is most effective as your #2 or 3 starter, not in the "Ace" roll...
my .02 :)

Tex is better suited for hitters parks . I've used him in the Dome twice . I learned my lesson , he got lit up like a christmas tree . Now ,only in hitters parks .

Hughson in Candlestick as the Top Dog in the rotation:
14 15 0 264.0 261 117 68 178 3.99 1.25
Team finished 84-78 and Drysdale (#4) and Derringer (#3) were the best SP on the team.

I have right now as my ace in the Dome: at midseason, he's 6-6, 2.97 era. I agree that he's better suited as a 2 or 3. Right now Lolich and Oil Can are a combined 22-13 in comparison.

As the #3 guy in Jack Murphy. Not bad, but he was my worst starter.

If you are well suited for a hitters park, how can you be a bad choice in a pitchers park? I can see how there are perhaps better "values", but seems to me that if you are a stud in a hitters park, you are even better in a pitchers park.
Perhaps that is wrong, but makes sense to me! :)

I think the logic here is that Hughson is good in a hitters' park because he has no ballpark home runs. He'd be pretty good in a pitchers' park too, of course, but he gains value in a hitters' because of no BPHR's.
