OK. First game of the finals. Game's tied going into the 7th. My guys are home. Game's in Minute Maid Park.

*** TOP OF INNING 7 ***
0 D.Jeter 2-8 Fly Out (CF) b-0 F9
1 S.Carlton 4-4 Ground Out (P) b-0 bpSI 1-3 F9
2 O.Johnson 1-7 Single (CF) b-1 F9
2 1 W.Brown 1-6 Single (LF) 1-2 b-1 F9
SUBSTITUTE P - Randy Myers (role: Tied & Late)
2 12 M.Piazza 1-4 Home Run (CF) 2-H 1-H b-H F9
2 H.Aaron 5-9 Strike Out b-0 F9
*** BOTTOM OF INNING 7 ***
0 M.Williams 1-8 Strike Out b-0 F9
1 I.Rodriguez 6-5 Walk b-1 F9
1 1 B.Bonds 4-11 1 Base Error - P 1-2 b-1 gb(P)x F9
1 12 R.Myers 2-4 Ground Out (P) Double Play 1-o b-0 F9

On what planet do you let Randy Myers bat in that situation? I like Randy; he's done well for me. (Not as a hitter) I don't hold the Piazza HR against him.
But still.
First game of the finals. Myers was the first reliever in. I have a bullpen full of rested pitchers, including Mike Marshall and Eddie Fisher who are both marked behind and late. I have a full bench, including Bobby Thomson who has had a pretty good season PHing against lefties so I could at least dream about a game-tying homer. (Doesn't Hal remember the Miracle of Coogans Bluff?) I'd even rather have Al Weis bat in that spot. Tony Taylor.

Truly mind-boggling.
