I have 3 teams that opened the playoffs last night.
Team A won [b:149e1d0c43]108 [/b:149e1d0c43]games
Team B won 91 games
Team C won 83 games and backed into the division title
Team A lost both playoff games last night
Team B lost both playoff games last night
Team C split
I'd be curious how many 100+ win teams have been eliminated in the Semis

Frankly, this is why I [b:5fefb48c95]refuse[/b:5fefb48c95] to win 100 games......
or even 90.......
and 80 is even a stretch :(

Forget 100 wins. Having the leagues BEST record and getting KO in the semis.

Best way to solve that problem is just be like me and struggle to even field a .500 team let alone a playoff team  :D  :)

I would wager that[b:dc9feffddd] overall the best record[/b:dc9feffddd] wins the[b:dc9feffddd] majority of play-offs[/b:dc9feffddd]...or better yet take a look at [b:dc9feffddd]exp. record[/b:dc9feffddd] and that team wins most of the time...I think wjanssen kept records of this...[b:dc9feffddd]Am I right Bill?[/b:dc9feffddd] The losses just seem [b:dc9feffddd]worse[/b:dc9feffddd] when your team had a [b:dc9feffddd]great season[/b:dc9feffddd] and loses

In online strat is there such a thing as a team being built for reg season as opposed to a 7 games series .....or vice versa? I mean during the reg season you play a vast vast majority of games in your home park (so if you contructed your team properly slash accordingly) you have a nice advantage over your opponents that much more often as opposed to the post season series where you get only 1 extra game at home at most.

Not surprising, think of the mathematics. A 100 win team playing an 87 win team, what would be the expected chance of winning, based on the winning percentages.
A 100 win team wins 61.7% of the time a 87 win team 53.7 percent of the time during the regular season. Therefore we have a total of 61.7 plus 53.7 = 115.4 total chance of winning as the lower level teams where we run up the record to get our wins in excess of 81 are eliminated. So the 100 win team has a 61.7 / 115.4 or 53.5% expected chance of winning. An advantage but not really very large advantage.
Increasing the wins to 108 gives a 55.4% chance of winning. So upsets should be mathematically common. Meaning even if the 108 win team won the first three games of the playoffs it has a .446 * .446 *.446 *.446 or about one in 25 chance of losing 4 in a row to the 87 win team, which I think would be very frustrating.
