I don't have links to their obits but sad to say 2 more players from my youth have passed on. Northrup was 71 and had Alzheimers, Pagan was 76 (blows my mind to think of either of these guys in their 70's). I'm not a Tigers fan though i did root hard for them in the '68 series against the Cards, i was only 10 years old but remember the Series like it was yesterday.Northrup was one of my favorites when i was a kid.

It was nice to remember these two players; they weren't superstars but solid players who helped make the game exciting in my youth. Pagan had some quality years as a utility man for the Bucs and it seemed Bob Prince always took special glee in saying his name!

On a more arcane note, I've used Northrup as a platoon a few times over in FantaSim and he's put up some surprisingly good numbers. He doesn't seem to get much use in ATG, at least in the leagues I've played in. He will always stick out for being an important part of that Tigers squad in '68 with Lolich's phenomenal Series performance.

Wasn't Northrup in the record books for Grand Slams in an inning (2)?

I remember Pagan with the Bucs in the 70"s.

Northrup hit 3 grand slams in one week I believe. 2 of them were in consecutive at bats. Northrup also hit a grand slam in the '68 World Series.I think Pagan had the game winning hit in game 7 of the WS for the Pirates in 1971.

Northrup worked well in bomber parks in ATG2, especially in a platoon. So many options now, a lot guys in the $1-5 range never get a look.

Oh this one hurts. Growing up in Boston and NOT being a Red Sox fan, in the 60's and 70's one came to appreciate the 'other' teams players.

Jim Northrup was one of my favorites. Always hit well in Fenway, plus some speed d and an arm. Most Red Sox OF 'ers of this era were something less than that.

Used Northrup with great success in platoons here in ATG. Wow we are all getting older now... just like how the guy played and also how he looked on his baseball cards.
