Nice game by Cobb. Looked at the line and saw only 2 runs scored and 2 rbi. So I scanned further to count how many he left on base and that led to something I never thought of before.

In the 4th inning a man on first he hits a double. It appears the runner was thrown out trying to score. Does he get charged with a man left on base since he did not drive him in or not charged since the runner was erased?

I don't think he gets anything. He didn't leave the guy on base and he's not responsible for the attempt to take an extra base.

As long as a player gets a hit they aren't charged with a man LOB. Even if the runner stays at third, the hitter is "safe".

Funny that it wasn't even worth mentioning in the write-up.

My sentiments exactly......the template used for the write-ups slightly amaze me in its random and sometimes detailed thought processes while baffling me with its glaring omissions. Of course I only read about one write-up out of every 800 so who am I to judge.

Actually, it was the 3rd inning where he had an inning-ending [u:4e4a94c913]single[/u:4e4a94c913] AND Frog Redus was thrown out (presumably at 3rd). Doesn't HAL have the faintest clue about how baserunning odds change with two out?
