"Pure" Expansion League (with Augments) 100M

Postby honestiago1 » Tue Jun 14, 2011 9:09 am

Choose a "pure" expansion franchise from your home state or a place/state you've actually traveled to as a destination (no layovers, bub). [NOTE: for this league I tried to use basically "new" franchises [even though, in some cases, the teams where simply created after a move]).

Augment your Franchise with two NeL players and 1 NYM-ExP+ player (see below), plus your favorite player from any other, non-listed ExP franchise.

Settings:
*DH
*100M
*Frenzy

*Use ballpark associated with your franchise, ratings from 1970 or after
(so you can use '05 parks)

*Use expansion lists for drafting purposes. In cases where there is a conflict between cards (ex: Juan Beneiquez has TEX and CAL cards) the card with the highest value takes precedence during AD phase. After that, the player may be claimed by any franchise he is carded for.

*You can ONLY use the card associated with your franchise.

*List two Nel's to add to your franchise (first come, first serve)

*List ONE NYM-ExP+ player. This list includes everyone on the NYM-ExP franchise who does not belong to another ExP team (not carded for any listed teams, below).

**Miguel Cabrera and Todd Helton count as Exp+ players.

*NOTE: Randy Johnson counts as a Mariner. Schilling is an Astro.

*Trades can be made between franchises at any time.

*I will claim TEX and Ryne Sandberg as my non-listed Exp pick, but will pick my NeL players and Mets+ player last.

As I live in the Milwaukee suburban area, I would be interested in doing this and using Milwaukee. However, I like the idea of the first comment that this could be better at $100 mil. Depending on what salary is used could have an impact on what NeL players and other players I include.

I'm willing to raise it, if it gets more players. Will both of you commit if the cap goes up?

hey, Ark, I just caught a game in KC last week as part of my honeymoon road trip. Saw Hochevar-Romero tilt, 3-2 KC victory. We liked the area a lot. Ended up at the Savoy with a free upgrade, so it was pretty cool.

I only qualified for two of these expansion teams:

California Angels: I think it was 1977 when I dropped out of college with straight As and drove to California. Elvis died as I drove from Vegas to LA to see my best friend since 1st grade who was going to grad school there. In addition to the Comedy Store and women wrestling naked, we also went to see Nolan Ryan lose, but I got a HR ball. My buddy and I both signed it. I still have it.

(PS - I eventually graduated in 1981 with a PhD in laughing while wrestling women naked :))

KC Royals: On our drive to visit my sister in Denver, we stopped over in KC. I convinced my mother and father to go to a game in old Municipal Stadium. The Royals were playing the Yankees. Sparky Lyle was a big deal then (1971-72?). The Royals were trailing as they headed into the bottom of the 9th. The crowd began to call for the Yanks to put in Sparky. They were taunting the Yankees. And, they were doing it REAL LOUD! Sparky came in, the Royals came to bat, came from behind, and beat the Yanks!

Hey, if Herzog is your manager, why isn't Porter your free pick? ;-)
