I agree that new cards are exciting and I will be looking forward to playing with same but what originally hooked me on this game was strategy and team building. I am afraid these concepts are taking a backseat as the player pool continues to be saturated with new talent. I would hate for it to get to the point where I am no longer concerned about making myself available for the mad rush after waivers because I know that there will always be very viable options left to pick up a couple of days later.
To me, the beauty of ATG V was that there were always teams at the 140 mil and 200 mil level (for lack of better words) getting shafted during the draft and it was a long, strategic road to recover.....if you could. There were only a handful of premium 2B, CF, 3B, and they were coveted. ATG VI's influx of talent filled those holes and now nearly everyone fields an All-Star team up and down their lineups.......it is definitely harder (at least for me) to win at ATG VI now that strategy and drafting ability (drafting luck) have given way to which team can out homer the other.
Occasionally you will still see teams in ATG VI not recover from an unlucky draft but not as often as ATG V and my fear as stated above is that more new cards promotes less strategy needed to win.
My two cents.....and always subject to ridicule and debate.
