How many of you tried Piazza as a Catcher....4 +1e5? Looks like there isn't much of small ball in my league, I was trying to use another DH. It's a 24 team league 100,000 and I'm playing at Petco.
Any advise I would be greatful

I just finished a season with the $7.40m Piazza playing catcher. I did have a good defensive replacement for him (Fosse) who came in late in the game when I had the lead. Still, I gave up way more SBs than anyone in the league, and only two other teams had a worse SB allowed % than me. But, I made the playoffs as the WC, and Piazza was a beast - .325 BAVG, 51 HRs and 133 RBI. I had Metropolitan '71 (8,14,3,12) for my stadium. Despite being a 15 game injury risk, I got 150 games out of him. If your league is power stadium heavy, I wouldn't hesitate to use him as your C. His power hitting will more than offset whatever the other team gains in SBs, IMO. Aside from J. Gibson, I think he's the best hitting C in the set, no disrespect to Mauer.

Don't know about the whole season, but Piazza had some fun against a weak SP in last night's Game 1.

of course, playing at Petco, three of Piazza's 4 HR's in that game would have been outs. But still a monster game.

I think it depends if there are enough hitting parks in your division. With you being in Petco, you already have 81 games where Piazza is limited.

Beast

Beastly...ill take the almost 300 runs produced with a +1 arm anytime...go ahead an play small ball...

In most situations, his bat will massively overwhelm what people steal on him. Really, if you consider what run production people get from steals, you will fast understand that a +arm is not the worst sin out there.

That said, I might hedge with some good hold pitchers.

I use Piazza a lot, and the ONLY time he DHs for me is if I get the Dodgers in a Franchise League. His bat just makes upfor the glove...........

I started against him last night in a new league. Cobb stole 9 times on him in 3 games - and we won opening night with a sweep.

I like it when you play him against my Cobb.....
