You receive more "managerial points" for winning or placing in an Advanced League, if i understand correctly

That's the only thing I can figure too. But then I wondered why anyone would create a standard league if that was the only difference?

That is the only difference. This was poorly thought out. You are right, if you are going after manager points there is no reason to create a league as standard. In fact many people create leagues labeled advanced and then restrict them to managers with ratings below 500 or whatever. There have been many discussions about this over the years.

When this system first started I created my leagues as advanced figuring why not get the extra points. I have transitioned though to always creating leagues as standard as a sort of mini silent protest. Besides, nobody deserves extra points for beating me.

My personal opinion is the standard/advanced should not be applied until after the league fills. Then based on who is in the league a formula designates the league as standard or advanced. It really should only be advanced if you are playing against advanced quality competition.

But it is what it is and having it changed is at the bottom of my list of things to campaign for.

If we do [b:ed9e7c8dfb]THIS[/b:ed9e7c8dfb] will you come back Adrian ?

Of course if I REALLY want to muddy the waters, I just mention that there is also a "TOURNAMENT" designation for a league.

It's interesting to see how the standard vs. advanced leagues has devolved into a situation where most of the ATG6 leagues are now being created as standard. The only reason I can see for this is to discourage the "sharks" -- whomever they might be perceived to be by the creators of the leagues -- from joining their leagues. Otherwise, as motherscratcher notes, why wouldn't you want to have an advanced league?
