Changing the Autodraft

How can TSN change the autodraft to make it better? I am sure the present system is flawed but just not sure how to change it. Thoughts?

We have hashed this out a year or two ago. I don't have the link to the forum posting.

A couple of the highlights were:

- Do Not draft list
- If you miss a player, drop down your list and draft the next available player on your list

I'd like to see an option to choose how you want your pick processed if the player you want is taken. Say you have Babe Ruth as your #1 choice and Mickey Mantle as your #2. When it is time for your first choice, Ruth is already taken but Mantle is still there. I'd like to see an option (either pick-by-pick or for the draft card as a whole) to either take the next best player at the position for the player you missed out on (so in Ruth's case you would get Barry Bonds) OR when a player on your list is taken just bump everyone left on your draft list up 1 spot (so in this case you would get Mantle) and drop Ruth to the bottom of your list.

The bumping up the next player on your list is what I was talking about for #2.

Any indications from Bernie before about the ease to implement? Any significant opposition?

This is what I broght up in another thread. For a guy just starting here, there is essentialy a game within the game which is not very fair, especially to noobies.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the current autodraft.

It is on Bernie's todo list:

He only mentions that a longer discussion on the ideal design is needed.

Agree with Nev. It is what it is.

Seems like I'm always at or near the top of the waiver order which means I don't get a lot of my listed players (compared to others). I look at this more as poor strategy on my part that will improve with more play. It's all part of it for me.
