How do you get Hal to use a pinch hitter?

I have 2 platoons
Clemente and Dale Murphy start against lefties
They both have avoid righties box checked
I have Don Money listed as my player to be used as a pinch hitter vs righties
Why does Hal never remove them when an opponent brings in a right handed reliever?

I have found the most effective platoons involve having one of the subs also be used as a defensive substitute. For if you are using Clemente vs lefties I also have the hitter vs righties marked as remove for defensive sub and put in Clemente. That will result in Clemente getting more at bats against lefties as HAL is more likely to pull. In general HAL is loathe to pinch hit if the game is not late and close in score

Another thing is to have your platoon guy further down in the lineup. If they are batting 3-5, very unlikely that HAL will pull them.

Clemente is hitting 3rd, but Murphy is hitting 7th.
The game in question, Tudor pitched the first 6 innings and left with a 2-0 lead. Lee Smith pitched the last 3 innings. So it was late and it was close.
And I agree, it looks like avoid lefties and righties is a useless box if Hal never uses it.

Here is a team where I used Weintraub and Clines as R/L as DH. Out of 200 at bats Weintraub has faced only 12 lefties. He is batting 9th. Clines is batting leadoff vs lefties and he has faced righties 53/250 at bats so far fewer pulls out of the lead off slot. Still overall the platoon is still worth it.

Worth it. Not worth it. Shouldn't the avoid boxes work?

The avoid box has not worked for me. I have Stargell listed as avoid lefties, about 40 games into the season he has yet to be pulled against a left handed pitcher. Add to it I looked at the leader board and saw that none of the 12 teams in the league has yet to use a pinch hitter. That made me figure its not going to happen.
One other thing that has bothered me is I have seen a abundant amount of HR-1 FO-2-20 fall for homers, including 2 in 1 inning. I seen 3 fall for homers in the last series including 2 in 1 game, and that is not even the series where I saw 2 in 1 inning.

It seems to me the avoid xH option only functions to avoid bringing someone off your bench into the game against xH pitcher.
Would really like to see another option implemented to [b:a3144825d0]pull[/b:a3144825d0] player vs. xH pitcher.
