I started playing it with my dad when I was 12 and haven't played for a few years but we used to play a lot. We always played the basic game and did many tournaments together. I ask because first of all I have great memories from this and also having sat there rolling the dice I saw a lot of crazy things happen that perhaps if I was not rolling the dice I would not have believed. I would reccomend sitting down and rolling the dice occasionally to remind you that crazy stuff happens and maybe there is not always an explanation to it. Maybe some people can share some board game expeiences here.

Mine would be a game that I still have the boxscore on. It was the 1994 Braves against a would have been playoff team in 94. We were playing the playoffs that never happened. My dad had never had anyone hit 4 homers in a game and he had played since he was a teenager. Well I was the Braves and Ryan Klesko hit 4 homer and drove in 13 for me, and his one out was a split deck homer that was like 1-15. We both still talk about that game 16 years later. I also still have boxscores of no hitters that guys threw for me.

I played in the early 80's.

One of the guys I played with (he introduced me to the game at school) replayed the entire '86 season by himself. That is a lot of dice rolling. He mentioned some unbelievable happenings but I forget them. I will mention this thread to him.

My cousins and I would play religiously whenever we saw each other- from the 1981 set on.
We had big tourneys on the weekends, and my oldest cousin was by far the best at strategy-
in fact we played in one league together here- and if I can get my act together they might to some more-
in which case remember to duck for cover.

Played the board game for several years ...now the cd-rom...

I starting playing the board game with the 1985 set. I have owned complete sets of cards from the 1960s to 2007. I decided in 2008 to sell them. I still own the game on CD ROM and have enjoyed playing it.

First started playing the board game around 1972. I haven't played a board game now going on two years, but I have played off and on (more on) since '72. Still have bins filled with SOM cards in my basement; still enjoy collecting them. :)

Had the Yankees when Maris hit 60 and Mantle had like 47.(1961?).

Anyways I decided to have a slaughter game. I picked a bunch of allstars Mantle,Maris,Berra etc. to play a bunch of scrubs. For some reason I had Milt Pappas(Cincinatti?) pitch for both sides.

Sure enough the final score was 25 to 5-IN FAVOR OF THE SCRUBS!!! It was incredible. I remember Johnny Blanchard had 3 home runs and 8 RBIs for the scrubs. Never have I seen anything like that game. :roll:

Played the board game from the 1970 season to the 2006 season. 81 games every team. Kept lifelong stats of the teams and players as well which was a major pain.

I found the online version and havent played the board game since. I've thought about resuming the board game again on a limited basis. Doesnt hurt that the Rangers would be competitive either.

i started playing the board game in 1979, the cd rom game in 1999..i have played in a couple of face to face board game tournaments this year but otherwise play thousands of games on my cd rom (only takes about 8 minutes to play one game if played solitaire against the computer)..and still active here but not like i used to be.

With the board game i played against small group of friends and in larger leagues for a few years. In 2 hours i used to only get in about 3 games, now with the computer i could get in about 10 to 15 games over that same period of time. I dont just do everything on auto pilot with the computer, i micro manage.

A friend of mine in school got the first edition of the game, with the '61 Yankees. We played a lot on rainy days.

In my 30's, I got very into play-by-mail SOM keeper leagues, and even played in a few Star Tournaments.

So this is my third "life" with SOM.
