I think I remember someone who was often doing things like this. Want to say it was chief wahoo but do not trust my memory enough to say for sure.

Muttdoc did odd themes.

Like The Beatles, all John Paul George and Richards on the team.

I've seen themes of birthdays ( players born in Jan, Feb etc..) , alphabet ( team of A's, B's C's...M's {mantle, maris, mays...{)...By state of birth..
Beyond Hispanic and Italian I've had trouble of building themes by ethnic group...failed with Polish American and Jewish players..( Poles had a good outfield Musial , Al Simmons {Szymanski} and Yaztremski)...Jew ish dropped off quickly after Koufax and Greenberg... French had good keystone pair Lajoie and Boudreau..PLayed in a franchise league over 12 seasons, which included Negro Leaguers who ran roughshod over everyone.

EDDIE CICOTTE WAS FRENCH ALSO, AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT JOHN SMOLTZ IS ITALIAN AND SO IS ROY CAMOINELLA [FATHERS SIDE.] I THINK THE GERMANS AND IRISH COULD FILL OUT A ROSTER

I had a team where every player had a z in their name. Of course it was mostly Latino. We did pretty well.

Irish would be pretty tough also

A lot of good deadball Irish ball players...

Wee Wille Keeler,Ed Delahanty, Al Kaline, Hugh Duffy in outfield
Roger Connor 1st,EddieCollins 2nd, Joe Cronin ss,John McGraw 3rd
Catchers Bresnahan and Freehan
pitchers, Big Ed Walsh, Rube Waddell, Nolan Ryan,Joe McGinnity,Whitey Ford
Bullpen, Tom Hughes, Tug McGraw, Billy O'Dell
I can come up with a starting group...challenge would be a whole 25 man roster

I currently have a team of all Williams, Bills, Willies, etc. I got all of them in the draft but missed Willie Mays in waivers which might have made a difference. They aren't doing as well as I expected, possibly because I limited myself to stadiums connected to William as well, which narrowed it to Wrigley and Shea as far as I could figure. The upside is that there is no pressure to make any changes since there aren't any free agents that fit the criteria that would help. Good news, bad news.

I went with a triskaidekaphobia team once...............all died on the 13th. It was not good and blew it up at some point in the season. May do it again and stick it out.......might be better at a different cap. the first go was at 60 mill which left me with a player or two with one of their lesser cards.......Mantle for one.
