That was really funny. I am a big Steeler fan, and lived in Cleveland from 1994-2005. I lived through the Modell bailout, the expansion franchise, Chris Palmer, Butch Davis, Tim Couch, Brady Quinn, Gerard Warren, and all the other goings-on, with a detached viewpoint. A lot of things the Lerners did then were really hard to explain.
I wish the Browns were better. As it is, the two games each year are no-win propositions for Steeler fans. Only bad things can happen; even a close game is a disaster.
I honestly think that Holmgren will get things going in the right direction, but this year has sure been ugly. Unfortunately, when a guy with a plan inherits a roster full of people that (a) don't fit his plan, and (b) are mostly just plain awful, things are ugly. I'm in Denver right now, and watching the Broncos doing the same thing. I seriously doubt that Tim Tebow is a long-term solution to what ails any football team, but he is winning right now. (Remember the Dolphins and the first year of the Wildcat?) And I fear that this temporary success will hamstring the franchise for a couple of years.
