I have my team settings on "extra conservative" -- yet there for five bunt for basehit attempts in my last game.
its a team of speedsters -- but there is no way i want Honus Wagner bunting for a basehit! very annoying.

The bunt aggression setting only addresses sac bunting.

Interesting. If it were real life I likely want Honus bunting regularly to take advantage of speed and draw infield in to help ground balls get through.

if we were playing the game (not accounting for real life), you wouldn't choose to bunt for a hit against the # of hits/on base chances by throwing the dice against the cards.

The only bunting that s/b done is to sac a guy over - he may get a hit as a result, but there should never be an attempt to bunt for a base hit - it happens so rarely in baseball, that it s/b coded out of these online leagues.

It happens so rarely in the 1990-present version of the game.
ATG is not the 1990-present version of the game.
Since it has not been normalized to any particular era (simply, everyone is normalized for their particular year/stadium), I cannot agree that bunt for a basehit should be coded out of online leagues. In the DB era, bunt for basehit was nothing like uncommon. Fast guys took advantage of their fast, the opposition's slow, and the general lack of decent fielding equipment. And really, bunt for basehit should make a comeback. Seriously. 1- No one expects it. 2- Left handed slugger getting the shift could slug bunt down third base for a double. Do it twice, and see the shift unshift. There are modern players who bunt for basehit too. Furcal. Ichiro. I would be okay with removing it from the 90's game or the 00's game, but not from ATG without a recontextualization of each card to a particular modern year, say 2000.

There's a simple cure for this - draft nothing but slow runners and guys whose cards are so bad you're happy to see them bunt.

Can you please post a link to that team? I'd like to copy it.
Thanks.

I remember David Ortiz bunting for a base hit against the shift several years ago.
I'm sorry. I said David Ortiz bunted.
I agree that it isn't used often, and Ortiz would never get on base doing this against a regular defensive formation. But I also agree it could be done more. You can't score runs without guys on, so it makes sense for even sluggers to bunt if they can get on base that way. The chances of a solo home run are what? And yeah . . . do it enough and the defense has to respect it, and the resulting drawn-in fielders or un-shift will likely result in more hits when you aren't bunting.
