Diamond Dope Actuals going away

Diamond Dope Actuals going away

Postby ADRIANGABRIEL » Sun Nov 27, 2011 8:28 pm

Yes, I think that's what I will be doing...

There are two primary issues with Actuals. The most important problem has to do with data storage. I am technically 5 times over my storage limit and the actuals database is about 4.5 of that. Also, there's a manual labor component that I have currently entrusted to PKB. He's doing a fine job, but that's the economy we're in.

Adrian,

I'm sorry to hear about the Actuals going away, but what can I say. DiamondDope is a great, great, great free*[/color:d044502369] product; now without the Actuals it will [i:d044502369]only[/i:d044502369] be a great, great free*[/color:d044502369] product.

* It is free, but people can click to make a donation (which I have done).[/color:d044502369]

Thank you, Glenn!

Who knows, maybe it's something Bernie is including with his site redesign. I hope it is.

Adrian,

I agree with Glenn. If Bernie could make the new site take on some or all of the functions of Diamonddope, I'd be delighted. I actually don't think I'd play ATG without diamonddope. The info from your site gives the game a whole new dimension.

If there are any solutions to these problems, please feel free to beg us for your help. I know there are dozens of folks on here who would help you if they knew what was needed to keep Dope alive.

Thanks OL, Dave.

Since Strat has moved to the back of the hobby line, so has Diamond Dope.

If anyone has the wherewithal to help me turn Diamond Dope into a full-time business, I'm all ears.

Not sure I have the skill. I do not have any C programing skills, just data entry ability. Let me know if it is enough.

It was suggested that I keep ATG 6 actuals and archive the rest. That's a possibility. I should have things figured out by the end of December.

At this point, nothing's final.

The labor issue is one of finding consistent time to find/load the leagues. I will get it up to date by the end of the year as work will slow down after the 10th (insanely busy from the 30th until the 10th... Something about technical consult on a $500M 15 year procurement.)

The actuals can be obtained via a program with the current website including L/R splits. I've done it for the mystry card games and it works for ATG. But then that is even more data.

It would be best to have Bernie just build it into the new site. He already has ALL the data.
