Got Willie Mays on my team and right now we are in the preseason and I have his 62 card but I might drop down to his 54 or 55 card they are both higher BA, OBP, SLG and OPS. not sure why the 62 card is 2 million more. Playing in Griffin 57 any thoughts on this.

I'm not sure. It does look like the cheaper cards would perform better. Maybe it's an injury thing. The expensive card looks like it can only get injured for the rest of the game.

Wow, it does appear you are paying an extra 2 and a half mil or so for the reduced injury risk. Thing is the cheaper 2 cards are only 3 game risks. I will gladly risk a 3 game injury for 2+ mil extra to spend.

You pay more for '62 because it's the better card. The other two cards were in Polo. Candlestick '62 was the ultimate pitchers park. Strat's ballpark effects are overstated. Compare the hr chances on the three cards.

thanks petro, the 55 card is pretty close in hr chances to the 62 card but with the no injury factor and more HR chances I see the increase in price. Not sure about 2+ million. Valen nice try I see you are in my division in that league.:)

The few times I have used Mays the more important factor was strength of the rest of my lineup regarding L/R balance. Lots of teammates who crush righties would lean toward the 2L Mays. But if I have been successful in getting Gibson and Allen as I frequently go for might prefer the 1R version of Mays.

The 54 card against righties which you see the most of has 100 points higher BA, 40 points higher OBP, 50 points higher SLG, 6 more RC/27. The numbers against lefties is slightly in favor of the 62 card but you see far fewer lefties in any league. There are not as many quality lefties as quality righties, nature of the game.

I had not paid attention to who was in my division, never do. My comment was based on your assertion that the 54 and 55 cards were otherwise equal. But now that you have pointed it out I note you are in a righty favoring park on HRs (1/17). That means you will tend to see a few more righties at home. So clearly stick with that 62 card with the 2L balance. :lol:

Seriously, you cannot go wrong with any of the 3. The real question is whether there is something you can do with the extra 2 mil to spend. That could represent the difference between the 1915 and 1916 Alexander cards, 1910/11 Walsh, etc. Though those choices are more likely to occur in non 200 mil leagues. But could matter in a 200 mil league where you have done a great job of drafting. Most leagues I tend to be forced to cut a player or two I would like to keep to get under the cap. If on the other hand there is nothing else you can do with the extra 2 mil then might as well use it to eliminate the 3 game injury. No reason to leave money on the table.

thanks valen, I was just kidding about being in the same division, thnaks for the information. going to stay with the 62 card not really a good CF (backup) out there in case he gets hurt but we have a week before the season starts so we will see. good luck talk to you soon.

3 game injuries do not worry me much. But agree with sticking to the expensive Mays as there is not likely anything better you will be able to do with the 2 mil. This is the first time I remember being in a league with you. Hopefully the first of many. Good luck.
