catcherX in the 5th and 7th inning both go for singles :cry:

I did not think it possible.

he gave up both hits to pitchers as well.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I've never known a 1 rating to mean that no hits occur, ever. They are the best fielders but there's usually at least one hit result. I can't say I'm real familiar with the Advanced/Super Advanced charts, however.

On a catcher with a range rating of 1, a d20 roll of 1 results in a "squib single" in front of the plate (if the bases are empty, as was the case both times in your game).

Here's the charts - a roll of 1 on any catcher range results in a "W/S"...

... which is a wild pitch if there are runners on, and a single if the bases are empty (see "NO" under "W/S"):
