Just a thought...

Just a thought...

Postby The Last Druid » Wed Jan 11, 2012 7:51 am

Down the road a couple of years, as we accumulate more cards, I wonder if it might make sense to have an ATG Mystery [b:ed4a8ce181]option.[/b:ed4a8ce181] Doesn't have to have 5 seasons per player, even just 3 might work.

Just to be crystal clear -- I'm not in any way advocating changing ATG into a mystery format. Just wonder if having it as a league option as we now have the live draft option might generate additional interest in the community.

While doing research for the upcoming batch of new cards, I had the very same thought. It's an idea that's come up before, and it's a pretty logical one (as an option, as you said). There's no particularly good reason that the Mystery Card format should only apply to "decades".

I could go for it, as an [i:6ec4a3dbeb]option[/i:6ec4a3dbeb]. Could add an interesting addition to the game, and make for some intriguing theme leagues, I suspect.

It's an option I won't be taking.

And what's the difference if there's three great Ty Cobb or Babe Ruth cards and you don't know which one you have? The Mystery Card games work because there's a dud or two mixed in there or you try to score the one good card on a bargain player.

I strongly dislike the mystery card game..no problem if it's just an option i just wont ever play in a league that uses it.

I've played the mystery card game 3 or 4 times. The cards and final results are enough of a mystery without the added gimmick.

I would certainly play a mystery card option on occasion, or even the option to do a mystery card league that reveals what year each player has as soon as the draft runs. It would limit the player pool and force people to use some different years of guys.

I remain very interested in a ATG mystery card option but only if the card is revealed at the end of the season.

Getting this line from Larkin after 58 games is all the mystery I need.

I am on a roll with last 6 teams having shortstops with BAs under .250 in spite of spending 10+ mil on the position. OK, one of them is Ripken at just under but still ....
