[code:1:727ba4d14c]Teams Probable Starter
Grints (21-24) at Beazley, J. (R)
Confluence (23-22) Murray, D. (R)

Five man rotation. Slim Jones is down for 10 games.

Any ideas of what to expect from my closer starting? Will it be a Tony LaRussa Bullpen Start (3-5 innings of Murray, then go with McClure, then to Bedrosian?)

Expect a 9 inning shutout. It seems like the times I have seen a reliever start a game that he did well.

I agree. The few times I've had a reliever start he's done extremely well. of course that will burn him as a usable reliever for the next night's series of games.

Interesting. I guess Bedrosian and McClure aren't extra parts, after all.

Hal will always start the reliever with highest endurance setting, in this case R4 Murray.

Waiting for Weinberg to chime in. This will help Murray keep up with the starters in IP.

Will Murray go 4 innings max if he starts? How does that work with fatigue when this happens?

I didin't know a starter could get injured for that long. Don't think I've seen this happen before.

[quote:1730f63eb2]However, in this game there is no "injury factor" per se except for days rest allowed between starts and a standard 1/108 chance of an injury roll when facing only one of the nine batters, an almost microscopic probability of injury. [/quote:1730f63eb2]

Quoting from another thread there, but long-term injuries (up to 15 games) CAN happen to non-* SPs and ALL RPs as well as batters, just [b:1730f63eb2]not nearly as often[/b:1730f63eb2].

I've used 5-man rotations a lot and I've never had more than one pitcher go down for more than 10 games in a season, and none at all I'd say about 85-90% of the time. So pitcher injuries in a 5-man rotation are not even a minor consideration to me when choosing pitchers.

It depends on your settings. He can pitch a complete game if you have him set F3 or F5 or whatever and he never reaches that. BUT like any non-* starter, he won't be available to pitch again - for at least four games. If the starter is injured for 15 games, Murray will take his turn in the rotation for three starts, and he won't be available to relieve for at least 15 games.

I do not think this is correct.
I used a five man before, and Babe Adams was able to relieve (at F0), in the game immediately after his start. He was unable to relieve in the three games before his next start. I think I could expect to see some Murray in the game after his start, which would lower the burden on my BP for at least that game, assuming he pitches 5-6 innings and turns it over to the other guys.
