ATG VI New Card Batch #6: now available

Postby bernieh » Wed Feb 22, 2012 8:09 pm

Today [b:72864fbe43]we added 18 brand new, popularly requested cards[/b:72864fbe43] (10 hitters, 8 pitchers) to the All-Time Greats VI player set!

[b:72864fbe43]ATG VI New Card Batch #6[/b:72864fbe43][/size:72864fbe43]

[b:72864fbe43]Hitters (10)[/b:72864fbe43]
- Mathews, Eddie (1953) - 11,260,000
- Morgan, Joe (1976) - 10,300,000
- Davis, Eric (1987) - 8,380,000
- Otis, Amos (1973) - 7,660,000
- Porter, Darrell (1979) - 7,420,000
- Alfonzo, Edgardo (1999) - 6,700,000
- Randolph, Willie (1980) - 6,220,000
- Carbo, Bernie (1970) - 6,040,000
- Johnson, Bob (1934) - 5,030,000
- Jackson, Bo (1989) - 4,410,000

[b:72864fbe43]Pitchers (8)[/b:72864fbe43]
- Vaughn, Hippo (1918) - 10,060,000
- Mays, Carl (1917) - 9,280,000
- Appier, Kevin (1993) - 8,050,000
- Sabathia, C.C. (2007) - 7,470,000
- Messersmith, Andy (1974) - 7,370,000
- Soto, Mario (1982) - 7,010,000
- Leonard, Dennis (1977) - 6,830,000
- Orosco, Jesse (1983) - 4,610,000

Note that there's currently only 18 (instead of the usual 20) because when I looked over all the cards at the last minute, I found 2 hitters that exhibited substantial HR power inflation caused by being poached from FantaSim, similar to the Arky Vaughan 1935 card I added in December.

I'm not thrilled with these cards - and one day I hope to be able to replace them with more accurate versions - but from what I can tell, the majority of you are ok with them. Still, these 2 new cards in question give me enough pause that I'm going to give you the chance to tell me if this is not the case; tomorrow morning I'll show you the cards and post another poll.

This is the sixth batch of new cards we're adding [i:72864fbe43]once every month[/i:72864fbe43].

Batch #4 was added in December.
Batch #3 was added in November.
Batch #2 was added in October.
Batch #1 was added in September.

All the cards in each batch are listed here.

The handy Excel spreadsheet of all the players in ATG VI with their stats and their salaries has been updated to include the new cards. There's a note in the rightmost column marking each of the new cards so you can easily find them.

[b:72864fbe43]Will my league get them?[/b:72864fbe43][/size:72864fbe43]

Effective immediately these cards are available for you to put on your draft lists if you are joining or creating a league that hasn't filled yet. If you've already finished your draft list and joined a league, you may pull out and adjust your list to include any of the new cards if you want, as long as the league hasn't closed yet.

The new cards will not be made available to leagues that have already drafted or whose seasons have started. I had intended to add them to such leagues manually on a case-by-case basis, but consensus opinions from the managers in these leagues would be too hard to collect, and I've run into some unexpected obstacles in this whole process.

[b:72864fbe43]What about Live Drafts?[/b:72864fbe43][/size:72864fbe43]

All ATG VI Live Drafts now include these new cards.

Enjoy!

I'm guessing Bob Elliott's 1947 MVP season is one of the cards in question.

What does R3/C4 mean? That's listed in the column where you usually see S*8 or R5, etc...

R3/C4 means it is a reliever with an endurance rating of 3.
The C4 is the closer rating which can be from 1-6 and refers to number of outs pitcher is generally good for before becoming fatigued. The closer rules however are not supposed to be on for ATG so it is meaningless.

Unless of course you are one of those who believe the conspiracy theory that it really is used. That one was popular a couple years back but I don't think there are many who still entertain it as true or if they do keep quiet believing they know a secret that gives them an advantage.

Seriously, you can ignore that unless you are playing 200x or one of the other games. It is turned on for those games and I believe for the 86 and mystery games. I do not know about fantasim if it is on or not but suspect it would be.

Good picks Bernie. Eddie Mathews, Joe Morgan, and Darrell Porter, I can see them playing in Shea Stadium '71 already, and winning.

Sincerely,
Delivery Boy...

- Mays, Carl (1917) - 9,280,000

By chance anyone with NERP on this guy, I don't see him in Diamond Dope yet.

Comparing him to Feller's 8.76mil card, which is better?

There is the DIY link at the dope. It's a bit of a bear, but if you need it now, roll your own.
