Can someone tell me if starting pitchers with * require 3 days/games rest in post season play? In other words, can I use 3 SP's, instead of 4? Thanks,

There are no scheduled off days in the playoffs except for a game between each series. You have to use all your main starters - the only difference is that, in a 4-man rotation, the guy that starts game 4 only goes once each series.

I think in 24-team leagues, where the first series is a best of 5, there are 3 off days before the next series.

If you have a 5-man rotation, you only get to use your top 4 guys 3 times in the consecutive 7-game series.

If the series goes less than seven, then the days you would have had to play a game become additional rest days while you wait for the other series to end.

Yes, that's how 2-round playoff leagues work. There is only one rest day after the first-round 5-game series in 24-team leagues, so if you are dragged out to a 5th game, you might have to start your #2 and 3 guys as 1 and 2, with your #1 guy in game 3. (assuming a 4-man rotation)

I think this is the reason experienced, really good managers (the ones that expect to make the playoffs every time they join a league) favor three top SP* starters and one lower-priced SP* that's considered a good value for the salary, such as K. Higby.

I'm neither all that experienced, nor all that good, but my few successful teams more often than not have rotations just like you described.

I have seen a few really successful 5 man non* rotations (yours among them Royal KC), but when I tried it I get my butt kicked. I keep thinking of trying again, but it seems like a disadvantage come playoff time.

If they could change it so that non* pitchers could pitch more often in the playoffs, similar to how current teams do it, it would be a lot more enticing.l
