Watching the Rangers at Baltimore - they have had some great trivia questions.
1. This notable pitcher led his league in strikeouts 5 times and once recorded a putout at 2B. Who was he? How did he come to be playing 2B in the first place? What notable pitcher was on the hill for this batter?
2. When Junior Griffey hit a HR off the warehouse at Camden Yard, he did not win the HR Derby. Who did? What notable feat did that man perform in the same contest?
3. Who did the Pirates release when they called up Kent Tekulve from the minor leagues?
4. Who was the last winning pitcher in a major league game to strike out 5 times in the game?

I'm fairly certain it was Steve Blass who was released to make room for Tekulve.

Juan Gone. Don't remember exactly what he did that was "notable".

You're lucky. The trivia questions on the Padres broadcasts are worse than the team!

My guess on the 5K winning pitcher would be Nolan Ryan for the Rangers. Sorry, those strikeouts did not figure into his K total for the year, just mound strikeouts Ryan, but nice try.

Sam McDowell, switch-out to allow a righty/righty matchup, Dean Chance. Too bad that's not easier to do in SOM!

Yes, Chris Davis was 0 for 8 with 5 K's, but pitched two innings and was credited with the win.
Yes, Sam McDowell and Dean Chance were the pitchers involved when McDowell played 2nd base. Frank Howard (who owned McDowell because he could catch up to the fastball) was at bat with the tieing and go-ahead runs on base in the 8th inning. Al Dark brought in Chance, moved McDowell to 2nd base, and moved the Tribe's regular 2B to 3rd. Chance pitched very gingerly to Howard and eventually walked him to load the bases. Then Rick Reichart came to the plate. Dark left Chance on the hill, assuming that Reichart would be hit for, but the opposing manager decided to leave McDowell at 2nd. Reichardt grounded to 3rd, and the 3B threw to 2nd for the force.
Yes, Juan Gonzalez beat Junior out. He also hit a ball into the upper deck in LF at Camden Yard in that contest.
No, Blass did not get released to make room for Teke. Blass's last game was in April of 1974, Teke came up later.

Nope, the guy they released to make room for Tekulve was Sam McDowell!
