Pete Alexander or Smokey Joe Williams?

(the 6.70m Pete)

I'm in Minutemaid park (3-11, 3-16), about to start the last divisional run of the season, with another Minutemaid, a County '78 (15-15, 10-10), and a Fulton '78(13-13, 20-20).

Any strong feelings one way or another? Williams looks better by the numbers, but I got a thing for Pete...

PJ,

Pete has a better arm (-2 hold) and fewer errors (2e0 vs 2e15), but Smokey Joe has a big advantage vs RH bats and zero HR chances which will make a difference imo.

I do however like the idea of finding the cash and using the 10.99 Alexander.

Within a budget though, I think $7 Smokin Joe has the edge on $6.7 Pete.

Even better, draft the man in Fantasim (whenever Bernieh gets around to reinstating the game)and then trade him if you do not get the year you like

all the best,

I guess that's my thought too. This team has been weird. Had Mays go half the season hitting .210. Finally dumped him even though the numbers didn't add up. Now it's Hershiser's turn. Great card, should win in MinuteMaid, but he's not reliable.

In order to make the playoffs, my best chance is to maximize my opportunities in MinuteMaid. That's Hershiser by the numbers, but Williams by my gut feeling.

Gotta decide by tomorrow night...

8.75 Orel vs 7.0 Smokin Joe....that is a tougher sell.

If you are expecting all RH bats, Smokin Joe has the advantage with a nice GbA in the 7 slot, an extra inning of endurance and a better bat (not a factor if no DH)

BUT....if you are seeing much in the way of LH bats, Orel has a large advantage in pitching stats and a better hold rating.

best of luck in the run to the pennant!

Mostly righty bats, and we have a DH. Plus, more than half of the remaining series are in MinuteMaid.

It is a tough call, which is why I come to you experts!
