So I'm updating Diamond Dope

So I'm updating Diamond Dope

Postby ADRIANGABRIEL » Thu Jun 14, 2012 11:29 pm

Okay, I'm done.

The biggest thing is that I have removed the links for actuals. Sorry, but there will be no more actuals on Diamond Dope. I no longer have the ability to grab actuals on the new site.

Instead of automatically pointing to the card reader, the index will now point to the help page, which has been updated.

You now have the ability to create users on the draft app. An "add user" link appears next to the login fields.

Enjoy!

No more actuals? Gotta say I'm gonna miss them, but I also feel like a lot of us have gotten into the habit of using the actuals too much and not spending enough time reading cards.

No more training wheels!

Thanks, Adrian. I'm not in a draft now, but looking at an older one, it seems to load a little faster than before. It looks like it shows the card images from the old site, I suppose at some point that will have to change, right?

Yes, as long as the html card files are out there, then they can still link. Hopefully, someone will let me know when they are no longer working.

Ouch, that really hurts. The actuals and the draft were the only things I used DD for.

Adrian, when you come visit, I will only buy you TWO beers, not three.

Ah, but those are German beers. Easily counts as 4 beers-US, in the conversion chart.

Diamond Dope and the actuals have been a huge factor in hooking me on Strat. I certainly can't blame Adrian for stepping away from the actuals; especially if the new update makes them impossible to capture. However, statistics on how players have performed in different parks should absolutely be part of the Strat update. It have obsessed over the actuals for team after team -- in a good way. It has enhanced my enjoyment of -- and my success in -- this game immensely. Thank you Adrian.

Nothing I have seen in the new site -- and I acknowledge that it is certainly too early to judge it -- would be a significant enough improvement to make up for the loss of the actuals.

Right now, considering all the issues, my Strat addiction is already in remission. In a few weeks, I'll see how things are going. I may have a credit or two to spend at that point and will give some new teams a try. So far, I am dubious.

Maybe Bernie will be able to include them in the future.

Adrian,

Thanks for everything you do. The card reader is the number one most important feature to me, the actuals just icing on the cake. Whatever you can do is great and I don't think you get nearly enough recognition.
