Just my thoughts....

Just my thoughts....

I see that TSN has had a major setback on their switch over in systems. What's really sad is one of their staff members physically hurt themselves in the process of this change. I hope and pray he's doing OK. I know that some of our community is frustrated and I understand those feelings given some of the past problems we have encountered with TSN. But in ths situation I know how they feel. My business has encountered several system failures over the years. One in particular involed a total shutdown 4 hours before the Kentuck Derby race about 10 years ago. The entire casino industry in Nevada was at a standstill for a time period covering almost the entire 4 hours. Major properties had party convention rooms with thousands of patrons yelling and screaming for "blood". I was in our operations room watching the faces of my employees as they tried over and over again to resolve the problem. The phones were ringing off the hook. It was the most horrible day in my life from a business standpoint. I could only try to calm my people down and embrace them. Some of them broke down in tears. It was a horrible business tradegy and in the end they finally resolved the problem. But the damage was done and industry was prepared to lynch us. All I could do was to call a meeting of the properties and try to explain that sometimes things happen. With millions of lines of code sometimes a line of code has a "bug" and then everything goes crazy. Remember the Challenger accident...sometimes it takes lives...TSN is trying so very hard to fix this situation. I'm sure that they will resolve it but all we can do is have patience. In an effort to improve our fantasy experience, they have created a "nightmare" which probably has several people in tears....Considering I am recovering from a painful surgery and am taking perocet and valium, I have a little more empathy than normal.....The sun will shine...Bobby

p.s. It's nice to be back

First of all, welcome back Bobby and I'm glad everything went well...secondly I understand your point and its well taken but to my situation this goes beyond that...I'm just not as willing to just "accept" this with a grain of salt...

Ice, Bobby! Ice! That is the only effective respite after shoulder surgery. I hate technology. We are on the third billing program in my office. Every time we change, My practice is essentially shut down for a month while we tussle with it. Then there are the shutdowns from data corruption/software problems which occur every couple years. These things never happened when we used ledger cards.

Won't be long and you'll be as good as new Bobby, glad it's over with and everything went well... :) ...as for TSN things happen, especially with computers so PATIENCE is needed,it's not necessarily anybody's "fault"... :)

Bobby, glad your surgery went well and nice to have you back. I think Bernie might be needing your hospital bed when this is all said and done.

Bernie probably would appreciate a prescription for one of the Chief's magic potions, something to help him forget this weekend ever happened.

I feel for Bernie. There's nothing like being in a room full of angry people when the crap hits the fan, you're in charge, you had good intentions, and there's not a damn thing you could have done to make it go better, short of spending a gazillion dollars that you didn't have.

And I can take this disappointment without a problem because it's a glorious 50-plus-degree day here, sunny, and I'm going to hop on my bicycle and burn off a couple pounds of blubber.

Bobby, glad to hear that you are back and surgery went well. I had shoulder surgery a couple of years ago and I have one word of advice (or warning)....watch out for those physical therapy guys (and gals). They may seem like human beings....I kept saying " but I don't think I'll ever have to put my arm in that position"...and the therapist would just smile and ask what the pain was like on a scale of 1-10....

On the topic of the day...I appreciate your bringing in the human element and I too want to give my best to Andrey and to Bernie...it sounds like they are both suffering, and no matter how important these games may seem...never is a series win or loss on the same level of importance as a person's health or well being.

That said, TSN SOM has never shown any concern for the paying customer and as long as I've been paying good money to play, they have not shown that customer service is a priority. I've learned to live with that and play because I like the communityof ATGII players here.

And lastly, I can appreciate technology breakdowns and I know that not all disasters can be prevented....but have you ever noticed that no matter what types of problems we are having with access or games, or message boards...the "Sign Up for Teams" links and the links to put your credit card numbers never seem to be down or slow...

Thanks everyone for the well wishes...As I said in my post, I'm a little more compassionate today with the valium I'm taking... Boni's been missing for 5 hours this afternoon and she may be at Neimans....It would be a good time for her to "ring" it up...lol,lol... Maybe something good will come out of this situation. Bobby

Bobby, we have all been thinking of you these past few days. So glad to hear you are back. Hope the pain is bearable (especially with the meds!) All I can do is echo your response about Bernie and the team. We need to back off, give them time and room to maneuver, and let's see what, if anything they do after the problem is resolved.
