Only 9 games into the season and my team is doing fine, but can anyone tell me why HAL has chosen to use Dave Morehead and Ken Johnson as much or more than Gerry Staley????

http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/baseball/stratomatic/atg2/team/team_other.html?user_id=107488

I have Klinger set to close both ways and Lefferts set for setup both ways.

Staley is set for nothing and has no individual settings either, so why has HAL chosen to barely use him at all???

Your Thoughts ..........

Coach,

No real idea. He's doing it to me with Johnson on another team.
This may be a question to pose to Bernie on the main SOM board; I saw a thread from him there where he was seeking just such anomalies.

The help text in the CD game provides some of the factors HAL uses to choose relief pitchers (at a high level...the text does not list specific criteria). One of the factors is based on the actual IP of the reliever. However, since Morehead has fewer actual IP than the other pitchers, your situation is still a mystery. It's still early....the usage should level out.

I love Staley (in a manly kinda way  ) and use him alot and have never seen this, HAL usually loads him up with innings ........ :?

Because you're not sequestering SP in the rotation and using per game starters.

PBTR,

You are absolutely correct, I normally do, but am being lazy on this one ...

But, that still doesn't effectively answer the question ... Why would HAL call on Morehead 3 times and Staley only once for 1/3 of an inning?

My only guess is because Morehead's and R4 instead of an R3

With your present settings if you want Staley to pitch more you'll need to check mopup. Geekor is right I believe HAL is picking Morehead since he is an R4 HAL is giving him the innings and Ken Johnson is a lefty.

Checking Mop-up for Staley will quickly get him more innings.

Thanks guys, I'm gonna make a quick change there. I heard from Nev a while back that HAL always picks an R4 first whenever possible, so I'll either bury Morehead in the rotation or drop him totally.

I may also check Staley as mopup too.

Charlie, I've actually toyed with the idea of using say Schultz or Hernandez as the closer but also checking him for mopup. Any thoughts on that idea?
