I've got Mathewson, Konstaty, and Simmons at Ebbets right now. Simmons is a monster, Konstanty is strong, and Mathewson is decent, but gives up a LOT of singles to the OF.

A couple of initial tips:

1. It's not a good idea to mix * and non-* pitchers. I prefer to go with a 4 man rotation in most cases.

2. Cut back to 13 position players to give you more cash to upgrade other areas.

3. Max out your available cash.

I'd try to upgrade SS and CF. Combs typically underperforms and has a very weak arm. Also, Mathewson has to go....he's not a good value.

You do have some nice players such as Simmons, Collins, Campy and Rice.

Is Narleski starting or coming out of the pen? I'd look for one more starter.

Lineup looks good-- I've never had any luck with Campy. Seems he's injured ALL the time.

FWIIW...

Drop a couple of backups, and get your roster to 23 players to free up some cash.

Narleski, although very good, cannot go every 4 games. You should drop him, and pick up a *SP for your rotation. There are several good *sp's on your FA wire in that general price range. Pollett, Willis, Summers, Mullin, Maddox...look for guys with low bphr's.

Not a big fan of Mathewson...look at above options.

Your hitting looks pretty solid. Combs is not a good choice in CF....that +3 arm is a killer! Dawson is an excellent choice in a neutral park, and is available. you need a better SS IMO....Peckinpauh, Aparicio, Bush, Concepcion, Fernandez are all available.

my .02 :) Good luck!

Pick up Dawson to patrol CF. He is rarely available for a reason.

Pollett would be a definate upgrade to Mathewson.

Good luck!

I agree with the upgrade in CF .Put Rose in LF , Simmons in CF and upgrade 3rd base as an option also with Combs $$ . Wilson as a 4th starter isn't a bad idea , but in a different park . I'd upgrade him . You got a nice nucleus of players to start with . With some thought and upgrades , you could turn it into a competitor.

Go easy guys...I'm in his division. :)

Division stadiums: Huntington, Sportsman '46 & Wrigley '29

This is pre- waivers, but I do like your nucleus to begin with. You are getting some good advice.

Just don't listen too well. :D

Good luck and have fun!

[quote:ba82c0d281="mgstoffel1377"]I was thinking perhaps Rolfe or McCoskey at 3B and CF respectively. Thoughts?[/quote:ba82c0d281]

They both hit well anywhere. However, I only really like McCoskey in lf due to the +1 arm. Still think Dawson is your best option in CF in a Neutral park....
