Crawford in CF?

Playing in Forbes, 102 games in extreme pitcher, 60 games in Neutral or hitter parks including a Briggs (the team to beat right now IMHO) and Fenway 67 in my division and 3 Ebbetts teams elsewhere.

http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/baseball/stratomatic/atg2/team/team_other.html?user_id=109292

Lineup:
Manny
Ludes
Fox
Gardner
Ernie
Meusel
Crawford
Aaron

SPs:
Pete
Rocket
Hughson
Pot Pouri

RPs:
McDowell
Shoff
Osinkme

So the trade off is Geronimo/Paskert and Mike Scott vs Crawford and Hughson. Concern is getting outslugged with Cesar in CF.

Which way would you go?

My concern, without Crawford, is a serious lack of OBP at the top. I don't find Fox to be a legitimate top of lineup guy, since his OBP hovers around .340. I'd go Crawford/Hughson. Luderus/Sanguillen/Gardner is a decent bottom 3, but if you have to slide them up to 5/6/7 to put Geronimo in 8th, I'd be nervous.

Crawford will probably hit.

Good luck.

Now what I would do is pretty radical and not what you are likely to do but:

I would cut Aaron and pick up Kaline (I am alone on the anti-Aaron island but I don't like him in Forbes or Griffith) +4.44 or else take Keller or Riggs Stephenson

I would cut Crawford and pick up Geronimo(with Banks plenty of righties)+3.12

I would cut Luderus and go with a White/lansford Platoon (if you are going to keep Banks you need someone to make the other team feel the pain for cheap against righties White is good) -2.23

I would pick up Hall as a relief pitcher -1.23
I would pick up Dutch Reuther for Lea -0.66

I would take Pfeister for Roger Clemens -0.69
I would pick up the best lefty relief pitcher I could afford (Henry?) depends on the Kaline/Keller/Riggs debate
I would cut McDowell and pick up Nelson or konstancy

Your team would then be a defensive and pitching gem and I would bat the following lineups:

vs RH
Meusel
Fox
Banks
White
Kaline
Gardner
Manny
Geronimo

vs LH
Lansford
Fox
Banks
Meusel
Kaline
Gardner
Manny
Geronimo

Alternate vs RH
Meusel
Fox
Keller
Banks
White
Collins
Geronimo
Sanguileen

Alternate vs LH
Lansford
Keller
Banks
Meusel
Fox
Collins
Sanguileen
Geronimo

I feel Banks and Aaron are too much power

Charlie,

Let me have a look, your ideas are solid. Had 2nd waiver pick and Aaron was available, and someone dropped Ernie, so I ended up with a "tweener" IMHO. I agree with your concerns.

Followed GK's advice except for Kaline, took Snod due to $$ and injury risk, the numbers were essentially a wash.

Manny
White/Carney
Fox
Garner
Ernie
Snod
Geronimo/Paskert
Meusel

SPs:
Pete
Pfiester
Hughson
Ruether/Lea

RPs:
Nelson
Henry
Hall
Ostinksy

Setting Nellie and Henry to S/U & CL vs LH/RH respectively, Hall is long mid RP, Osinski is mopup not B4 8th.

Should be interesting, thanks for the help, sschu

I have had Aaron be only OK in pitchers parks. I have won a championship with Crawford in CF though and had him hit about .330 in Dunn. He's head and shoulders above Geronimo any day, anywhere regardless of the defense.

Here's Hank in Forbes on a championship team:

Charlies logic is good and his record speaks for itself

Every time I draft Geronimo he ends up being the anchor for my smallball teams ... [b:814f515f22]Unfortunately, he's like a boat anchor and keeps my teams from going anywhere and I end up mad at myself for drafting him.[/b:814f515f22]

Crawford on the other hand is a guy who should hit the cover off the ball, he just never does it for me.

Agree with all your points, CR. Since I wanted to do a pitch/defense team from the beginning and GK's advice is sound, thought I would give it a go.

Have to admit that this is waaayyy more than I usually spend on a pen .... :)

FWIW, I know you love him, but Osinski is unnecessary on this team.

Hall, Henry and Nellie will hold down the fort more than capably.

I guess you could set Osinski for close vs. RH not before 9th, Henry close vs. LH not before 8th and Nellie setup both ways. That would leave Hall to clean up the excess and he will rock in that capacity.
