On a personal front - good news

I wanted to let everyone know in the community that, after a 2 1/2 year battle and treatment protocol, my daughter has defeated the leukemia beast and is now officially in remission, with a 90-95% chance of no future recurrence.
She is my hero, the way she handled all the ups and downs and visits and minor traumas, beating back an irregular heartbeat and two bouts of pneumonia. When she had blood drawn, she would never even flinch and would be more worried about the color of her bandaid than the needle. She loved going in for the infrequent spinal taps, because she received medicine that helped her forget and she was treated to a hot dog lunch after. She learned how to ride the IV pole like a scooter without tangling the lines. And she never complained.
I'd like to thank those here who expressed their support and offered prayers, and I'd like to thank the incredible team of nurses, doctors, and pharmacists as Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. Without them, her health and my sanity would never have been the same. I'm now involved in an annual 150 bike ride to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I'm not soliciting personal donations, but if you are looking for something to support, I would recommend the Leukemia Society or your local childrens' hospital, who have made my daughter's future possible.
Now, it's time to party and celebrate - where's the half barrel?
